blonde hair, blue eyes

Hi,
I've seen in the papers lately about the murders of Ardeth Wood and Jennifer Teague... again. It's really too bad that these two girls were murdered. I can't help but think that because of their images - cute, blond hair, blue eyed girls - that the media has been covering their stories, almost non-stop, since their murders in 2003 and 2005. I've also read about those Carleton students that were killed in a car wreck on Heron Road the other night. Again, that's very saddening.

Does anyone reading this remember a girl that was murdered at the end of 2006? She was murdered in Gatineau. Her name was Kelly Morrisseau. Remember that? She was aboriginal, she had three kids, and was pregnant with her fourth. I read she was into drugs and prosititution though. So is it her lifestyle that warrants less attention? Or the fact that she is aboriginal? These are all young girls who've lost their lives. Why should some warrant more attention than others? Corruption in the media? Yeah, I think so too.

downtown parking

Hi,
I don't own a car, nor do I own a business on Bank St., but I have to comment on this new, stupid idea of extending the hours of metered parking in the downtown.

Who does this benefit? Motorists have to pay more to park, resulting in less motorists shopping at these shops, resulting in shops losing money. I believe it all links back to O'Brien. Instead of earning a few extra quarters at the meters downtown, why didn't he make a firm decision on the light-rail plan in the first place? Instead of changing his mind every couple of months, and bringing on a huge lawsuit for us?

Ronald McDonald has Mayor McCheese. I've taken the liberty of giving the nickname of our city "Mayor McGreed." I still can't believe this dictator got in.

meteorologists

Hi,
I was off the past few weeks. Not vacationing, just complaining about stuff. My wife told me to stop. That's actually how this website started, my wife told me I complain too much (to her), so the logical next step for me was to start a blog about complaining!

Anyway, I was thinking about the weather forecasters. When it's 20 below outside, and you're watching the news, and it's going to get warmer (less cold), why do they exaggerate? Like, "it's 18 below now, but by Friday it will be plus 16!" Granted, by friday the temperature does go up, but usually not as high. Like maybe 8 or 9, and then you get mad. "Oh, yeah, 16 degrees my ass!" So why don't they lowball it? Take 10 degrees off. If the high was forecast 6 degrees for Friday, and it goes up to 9, then it's a bonus, right? It makes sense to me!

So, for all these weather people making all of our lives difficult, my suggestion to you is to punch the next one you see.
