wind chill

Hi,
I'd like to talk about something that bugs me (big surprise, eh?) This windchill thing. Like, it's FAR colder then "they" say. Like, today, it was -10, and the "wind chill" was -18 or -19. But, without a doubt, it felt a hell of a lot colder than a few weeks ago when it was -30, -35, with no wind at all.

My guess is, that this whole "windchill" bullcrap was invented by metorologists who go from their warm offices to their warm cars, and then into their warm houses, not the people who have to wait the bus at the windy bus stop, then walk a few blocks to get where they're going...

kindness week

Hi,
This Kindness Week has got to be the dumbest idea. I hold the door for people, I don't swear around old people. I think I'm kind enough, and I won't go out of my way to do anything more because it's kindness week. "Oh, wait, I shouldn't be the first one on the bus today, because even though I am freezing my ass out here, it IS kindness week, so I have to let everyone go ahead of me." And it started with "Family Day." Oh, my God! We should nickname this city "kindergarden city", and for a mascot we could have a care bear.

If you're naturally kind, great, if not, well, then, too bad for you. But either way, we don't need a week to prove it!

Valentine's Day

Hi,
The other day, as you all know, was Valentine's Day. I don't see what the big hype is. Same as New Year's, only Valentine's Day isn't a holiday, so I still have to work. It's still just another day, only difference is that the flowers are three times more expensive and the resturants are three times more full than regular nights.

My wife is Brazilian - that's common knowledge to anyone who's been reading this. So we celebrate the Brazilian Valentine's day. It's also a Thursday this year, but I'm not going to say when, in case everybody decides to celebrate it, and the flowers become overpriced that day too!

bilingualism

Hi,
Do you remember a few months ago when OC Transpo drivers were forced to start calling out stops? And there was this big uproar because they wanted to implement these electronic devices to do it for them, and the automated thing would cost $9 million or some stupid amount like that? Thankfully, they never got that, and the drivers use their own voices to call out the stops. But most drivers don't speak french...

Now, last week in the paper I was reading about some jackass who wanted to sue OC Transpo because they were not calling out the stops in both official languages. Luckily, this idiot failed in his mission, because, if not... (see paragraph 1) Then we would all be complaining about higher fares, taxes... Michel Thiba-dolt, if by any chance you are reading this, take this advice: "THINK before you act!"

Last Sunday, we were going to visit some friends in Quebec. Luckily, I knew where I was going because I did not see ONE bilingual street sign over there. THINK before you act, dumbass!

Man, this bilingualism thing pisses me off to no end.

donate to a worthy cause?

Hi,
I've been reading in the paper about some kids out in Saskatchewan who froze to death. Two little native girls. I also heard an interview with the leader of the tribe, that the community is in trouble, they're broke.

And when I see ads on TV asking for money, it's always for kids in Africa. "For only a dollar a day..." you know those ads... I feel bad for those kids, but screw Africa! Look at our own country! The founders of our country! Remember your history? The white man came and kicked the natives off of their land, and have treated them like shit ever since. Now all they have are these poor communities up North.

So why send your money overseas when people need it just as badly right here?
