voting
Hi,
I love immigrants. Hell, I even married one! But there are some things I don't agree with; we have an election next week, some of these "traditions" that some women have that just can't be, not here anyway. OK, first of all, I used to be upset about these hijabs. But now, they're almost the norm here because they're so common. So that's alright. But these Burkas that cover the whole face, so you only see the eyes? And now these women want to vote?
It's not just voting either, it would be ID for everything. Driver's license, health card... I think they should be more worried about identity theft than being able to vote! What about doing their banking? Any bank robber could slip into one of these and go into the bank, without ever being caught...
My wife can't vote 'cause she's not a citizen yet. My idea is, if women take the time in between when they enter the country as an immigrant and when they become a citizen to become "desensitized" to their own laws and traditions, and learn ours, we would have alot less of these conflicts. If you want to wear a burka like this for the rest of your life, then don't become a citizen. Simple.
